![]() ![]() ![]() Until then, Spellbreak is available on PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC. Spellbreak was an ambitious project that saw our team push new boundaries in design and development and we are excited to continue to innovate as we create new titles in the future.” We are grateful to everyone in the game’s community for exploring the magical worlds and experiences we created together. “Our vision was to create a fresh, multiplayer action-spellcasting game with exceptional movement and class customization that would give players the chance to unleash their inner battlemage. Thank you to the millions of players who have joined us in the Hollow Lands since 2018 it’s been an amazing journey. The servers will be shut down as of early 2023. “After more than four years of elemental magic and spell combinations, we’ve made the decision to end development of Spellbreak. No reason for the closure has been given, but it doesn’t take much to put two and two together in a situation such as this one. Though it certainly attracted a sizeable player base in its time, it seems it isn’t doing well enough to continue onward, and the developer has announced that its servers will be shutting down in early 2023. Proletariat’s magic-infused Spellbreak was one of the more unique battle royale games out there, but it won’t be sticking around for much longer. Sometimes, it’s one of the ones from the industry’s big boys, like Ubisoft’s Hyper Scape. Other times, unfortunately, the more unique and fresh ideas end up running out of steam. Given the stiff competition, it’s no surprise that every so often, we see games being shut down. No firm word yet on when Spellbreak will launch, but folks with huge amounts of money can buy into pre-alpha testing through its site. The battle royale space is a crowded one, and it’s grown increasingly more so with every passing day over the last few years. I also like the talk of elements interacting, like lighting gauntlets being able to shock along trails of ice and water. Ability-based shooters aside from high mobility in its gameplay, Spellbreak also offers non-military weapons which may appeal to previous Overwatch, Warframe, and even Valorant players. Its tactical ability for building can be likened to Spellbreak’s spell casting system. See recent posts about the Pyromancer and electrical Conduit for more on their abilities and to see more fancy special effects. Battle royale players specifically Fortnite fans. I've always thought the six schools of magic were vanishing, card tricks, throwing knives, sawing-in-half, posing, and mindfreaking, but Proletariat are going more elemental. At the moment, we have 11 classes (one for each school of magic and then five others)." Each class contains a passive ability and three scrolls that you choose and level up over the course of a match. There was a certain amount of tension that was absent at the beginning of the match and that is a good thing. While playing the Battle Royale mode it instantly felt more accessible than other games. "In each match, you are given the opportunity to select and develop two classes. When I first tried Spellbreak, I was immediately hooked to the gameplay and the art style. "Early in Spellbreak's development, we decided to incorporate RPG elements, which led us to develop a system of 'classes' that add a significant degree of depth to how players build out their characters," developers Proletariat explain. Spellbreak is an interesting battle royale that offers intense fights with spells and enchantments, but its magic runs out quite fast. Don't give me weedy wizard fireballs, other video games, when meteors like that could be flying around. Mate, even if you're not interested in battlers royale, you might want to see this new trailer for the fancy spells these wizards are tossing off. But what if battle royale but wizards and big flashy magic spells hurling whirlwinds and rocks and giant walls of fire and spaffing special effects all over? Ah, for that you'll want to look to Spellbreak, an upcoming battle royale starring cool wizards. What if battle royale but wizards? Okay, Battlerite Royale, sure.
